EARLY ACHIEVEMENTS

 

Following are some of the early achievements which were instrumental in developing into an active alumni association.

 

:: 24th November 2007 ::

Organised an informal meeting of Graduate QSs in SL to find a way to regularly meet with each other and to address various issues. An informal Committee appointed to recommend formation of a formal body.

 

:: 19th December 2007,9th January 2007, 21st February 2007 ::

Committee unanimously recommended forming QS Alumni Association of University of Moratuwa.

 

:: 16th March,2008 ::

2nd get-together Graduates agreed to form QS Alumni Association of University of Moratuwa. Steps taken to enlist QSAA under the Alumni Association of University of Moratuwa prior to formal announcement. Office Bearers appointed.

Executive Council Meetings held every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month.

Registration of QS Alumni Association under the Alumni of University of Moratuwa.

M Sc in QS degree course matter was taken up in IQSSL.

 

:: 6th May 2008 ::

QS Alumni initiated a meeting with Secretary, Ministry of Construction & Engineering Services to discuss QS education in SL, particularly the proposed MSc :: QS :: course in Universities. The Secretary in general agreed to -jointly start QS Diploma course; also indicated intention to start B.Sc. :: QS :: courses at University of Peradeniya; further agreed to provide a land from Colombo for IQSSL office.

 

:: 14th May 2008 ::

Meeting with Secretary , Ministry of Construction & Engineering Services and ICTAD. Joint QS training programme to be conducted at CETRAC. QS Alumni to provide resource persons.

Proposed meeting with the Chairman, UGC regarding Government’s plans on enhancing graduate level QS education in SL.

Proposed meeting with the Vice Chancellor/ Dean, Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya regarding Government’s plan on QS education in SL.

 

:: 2nd June 2008 ::

Letter sent to ICTAD introducing QS Alumni. Provided comments/ observations on draft Construction Development Authority Act and ICTAD/SBD1 Form of contract.

 

:: 4th June 2008 ::

Distributed Draft Construction Development Authority Act among members for further comments.

 

:: 5th June 2008 ::

Draft Constitution distributed to Batch Reps.
