    Remember the days ...

... we used to walk along this bridge every morning.

But, can you still remember that before we could walk, we crawled along it…, it was a long time ago, wasn’t it.

PAQS Accredits Moratuwa QS Degree

At its 15th Annual Congress held in Colombo Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS) announced its accreditation of Bachelor of Science (honours) in Quantity Surveying degree programme. With this the graduates of the programme receives the highest global mobility in the discipline; because with this accreditation, "Moratuwa QS" degree becomes the only Quantity Surveying degree in the world with the accreditation from both RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) and PAQS.

The Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS) is an International association and an umbrella organization representing Quantity Surveyors in the Asia and Pacific region. PAQS member institutes include: Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International (AACE); Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS); Building Surveyors Institute of Japan (BSIJ); Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS); China Engineering Cost Association (CECA); Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS); Institute of Surveyors Malaysia (ISM); New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NZIQS); Singapore Institute of Surveyors & Valuers (SISV); Fiji Institute of Quantity Surveyors (FIQS); Institute of Quantity Surveyors Sri Lanka(IQSSL); and PUJA (B) Surveying Division Brunei (PUJA).

The accreditation is upheld by each institute individually upon the initial accreditation by the PAQS. Nine institutes have signed the accreditation certificate, said Dr. (Mrs.) Sandanayake who coordinated the accreditation visit. Our degree will be now recognized for membership in QS institutes in these nine countries in Asia-Pacific region, she added. The programme had accredited by AIQS, and it will continue within the PAQS.

PAQS Accreditation is another remarkable achievement by the staff and the students of the Department of Building Economics. During the accreditation visit, the panel met a delegation from QS Alumni. During the feedback, the panel made a remark that the Active Alumni and the strong link it has with the Department is one of the key strengths the degree programme's success.
